ShaddiNikah

How to look for a rishta online safely

Most of the risk in an online rishta comes from three places: not knowing who is really on the other side, sharing contact details too early, and meeting without family. This guide covers what ShaddiNikah does about each — and what remains your family’s job.

What the ID check covers — and what it does not

Before a profile is shown, our staff check the CNIC (Pakistan) or passport (elsewhere), match the photos against it, and confirm the date of birth; anyone under 18 is refused. Heavily filtered photos, or a group photo as the main picture, are not accepted. A profile whose ID has been checked carries an “ID checked” mark.

That mark confirms identity and age. Other details — education, work, income, family — are as the family entered them. Confirm the ones that matter to you, as you would for any rishta.

Keep contact inside the service until both families agree

  • Phone numbers and email addresses typed into chat are removed automatically. If someone keeps trying to move you elsewhere, treat that as a warning.
  • Use the number-sharing step. One family asks, the other allows or declines.
  • If a parent created the profile, the number on the account is the one the parent signed up with — so the first call is between families.
  • Never send money, gifts or bank details to anyone you meet through a rishta, whatever the reason given.

Warning signs

  • Pressure to move to WhatsApp or another app before families have agreed.
  • Any request for money, a loan, help with a fee, or bank or card details.
  • Reluctance to involve family, or to let parents speak to each other.
  • Details that change from one conversation to the next.
  • Refusing any video introduction or a family meeting while pressing for commitment.

Block, report and hide

Block and Report are in every chat. A report goes to our team; three reports from different people start a review of that profile, and staff can stop an account at once when needed. You can also hide your own profile from Settings at any time, and show it again later.

Photos and papers

Choose who sees your photos: everyone who sees the profile, only after both sides say yes, or no one. ID papers are locked; only staff can open them, and other families never see document numbers.

The first meeting

When asking to share numbers you can also ask for a video introduction, and a profile can carry an optional intro video. For a first meeting in person, meet in a public place with family present, and let someone at home know where you will be.

Questions

What does the “ID checked” mark mean?

Our staff have checked the person’s CNIC or passport, matched the photos against it, and confirmed they are 18 or older. It does not mean every other detail on the profile has been checked.

What happens when I report someone?

The report goes to our team. Three reports from different people start a review of that profile, and staff can stop an account at once when needed.

Can someone pass me their number in chat?

No. Phone numbers and email addresses typed into chat are removed automatically. Numbers are exchanged only through the number-sharing step.

Can I ask for a video introduction before sharing numbers?

Yes. When you ask to share numbers you can also ask for a video introduction, and some profiles carry an optional intro video.
