Registering from Canada
- Choose Canada as your country. Fees are charged in Canadian dollars, and the identity document is your passport.
- The registration fee is paid once with your first month and covers the identity check. The amount is shown before you pay; plans are compared on the membership page.
- Support hours are Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pakistan time. Pakistan is nine or ten hours ahead of Toronto and twelve or thirteen ahead of Vancouver, so email is usually the easiest way to reach the team.
Deciding how far to look
In your preferences you list the countries you would accept a rishta from — Canada only, Canada and the US, Pakistan, or others — and you can mark country as most important. A profile in exactly the same city as yours also gets extra weight when your daily list is ranked.
If very few profiles fit all your preferences, the country list is one of the settings that may be widened, so you still see suggestions. Deal-breakers such as “same sect only” or “same caste only” are never widened.
Second marriages
Not every rishta is a first marriage. A profile records marital status — unmarried, divorced, widowed or living apart — and the number of children where there are any. Families choose which marital statuses they would accept and whether they would accept a rishta with children, so a profile is only suggested to families who have said they are open to it.
Settled for years, or recently arrived
Country of birth, country of residence and nationality (Pakistani, two countries, or other) are separate fields, with the city you live in and your home town alongside. A family that arrived recently and one that has been in Canada for generations can each describe themselves accurately.
Whether the couple will live in Canada or Pakistan is for the families to agree. ShaddiNikah does not advise on immigration or sponsorship.
Questions
Can I look for a rishta in both Canada and the US?
Yes. List every country you would accept in your preferences. Marking country as most important gives profiles from those countries more weight.
Are divorced or widowed profiles welcome?
Yes. Marital status and number of children are part of the profile, and other families choose whether to include divorced or widowed profiles and profiles with children.
Which ID is needed to register from Canada?
Your passport. A CNIC is asked for only when Pakistan is the registration country.
Is the fee charged in Canadian dollars?
Yes. Choosing Canada sets your currency to Canadian dollars for the registration fee and the plan.
